Library Giving Day, April 7, 2021, is a national effort to promote donations to support libraries on the Wednesday of National Library Week. The Foundation is encouraging contributions to support our work of raising money to benefit the libraries of the Mohawk Valley Library System. Please contribute today by clicking the Donate Button on the right side of this page.
Libraries provide free services that are available to everyone. Access to information, books, audio, DVDs, classes, events and a pleasant space for anyone to learn and collaborate. Support your library by providing a Library Giving Day contribution to the Foundation for Mohawk Valley Libraries.
At the February, 2021 Foundation Board Meeting, the Foundation trustees approved three Advocacy and Community Engagement grants for 2021. The Community Library in Cobleskill is receiving funding to improve their marketing materials and to incorporate the library’s 100th Anniversary into those materials. The Schoharie Free Library is also doing a marketing campaign to promote their expanded service area and increased hours or operation. The Sharon Springs Free Library’s project is to develop a new promotional brochure. Congratulations to all of the grant recipients.

Congratulations to Bonnie Kerr and her cadre of volunteers for a very successful golf tournament held on Monday, July 30 at the Canajoharie Golf and Country Club. Twenty-eight players and over 90 donors and sponsors raised more that $4,000 for our regional public libraries. Over $5,000 was raised in the June 9, 2017 tournament at Schenectady’s historic Mohawk Golf Club. Major sponsors Ellis Medicine, Fenimore Asset Management, Esther Swanker and Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital led the way in successfully raising money for our our area public libraries. Join us for the Foundation Annual Meeting to be held at the Schenectady County Public Library on Tuesday, June 7. Business meeting at 5:30, with a light supper and talk at 6:00. This year’s program will be provided by Alison Macrina from the Library Freedom Project.
